About the GPPSA
Founded in 1997, the Great Plains Political Science Association encourages the research and teaching of political science, especially subjects concerning the Great Plains region. GPPSA also seeks to provide a platform for encouraging participation among those persons involved not only in political science, but in fields related to politics and government.
GPPSA is a volunteer organization operating without staff support or significant financial resources. Organization members participate in various functions of the organization, serving as officers, committee participants, and in the maintenance of its annual meeting and related activities. The association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations are tax deductible.

The GPPSA holds an annual conference each fall; the 2024 conference will be held at the campus of Wichita State University, November 1-2. While our meetings take place within the Great Plains region, we welcome participation from around the world. All subfields within political science are represented. We also strongly encourage interdisciplinary participation and welcome those outside of political science with research related to government or politics, such as history, criminal justice, communications, sociology, psychology, and geography. We feature special panels on state politics and government within the region and emphasize political science teaching and pedagogy.
